Overview

Name | Version: Multi Waveform Display 0.1
Author: tomcosm
Device Type: Audio Effect
Description: Multi Waveform Display is a tool for DJs who wish to see two waveforms at once.

IMPORTANT : This is still in an extremely experimental stage and I would not recommend using it for actual performances until version 1.0 is released. There are a handful of known issues already (listed below). If you find any more problems or have a feature request, please let me know in the comments.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Load the device and allocate which two audio tracks are your "Deck 1" and "Deck 2"

2) Click the RESET button

3) The waveform will update to whatever track is currently playing.

4) The filename of the track you are playing MUST CONTAIN THE BPM somewhere in the format ***bpm.

For example : Tom Cosm - I Like Turtles 128bpm.wav

There is currently no easy way to automatically grab the BPM from a warped track, so this device relies on the fact that the BPM is included in the file name.

Alternatively you can manually enter the BPM once the track has begun playing.

If you do not have the correct BPM, shit is gonna get weird.

5) You can zoom in and out of the Waveform by clicking and dragging around.

6) If things don't look right, hit the RESET button again. This won't stop your audio or mess with anything, it will just attempt to update things.

KNOWN PROBLEMS:

- I have only tested this with WAV, AIFF and MP3 files. This patch finds the path of the song on your computer and builds an entirely new waveform from it, so it most likely will not be able to read uncommon formats, such as FLAC or MPA.

- You may experience problems if the file you are trying to play is on an external drive.

- This works only for tracks that are at a constant BPM. Tracks with more than one warp marker at the start with a fixed BPM will get displayed wrong eventually.

- If there is a significant period of silence at the start of the track, the waveform view will be lagging behind. I currently do not know any easy fix for this but will work on it.

- I currently don't know anyway to make the cursor follow along when zoomed in.

Have fun, and let me know if you find any problems.
