Description: | Do your synths need a little stereo flavor? Does your lead vocal need an Automatic Double Tracking effect? Does your song need a killer build-up/break down? Well look no further! Chorus works by having a quick delay time on the left and right channels, that is modulated by an LFO. However, Mondo Chorus isn't your grandpa's chorus, and offers some features that you won't see in any other chorus plugin. This stereo chorus offers multiple LFO types, modulation modes, and output modes, as well as a visualization of the delay times for left and right. The main controls are: Dry/Wet - controls the balance of the signal Depth - controls the range of delay times Frequency - controls the rate of change for the delay times Mod and ø(Phase) are predominately used in Jitter mode, which we'll examine later. Let's take a look at the modes -- Wave Type Choose between Sine, Triangle, and random waves, all of which are affected by the depth and frequency knobs. -- Modulation Mode Choose between None, High-Speed, Jitter, and Beat-Sync Most chorus plugins have a simple sine wave as the only modulation type. I really enjoy the random setting. That's why its the default! -- -- High-Speed In this mode, the frequency knob hits values 200 times greater. This works well for build-ups and break-downs. -- -- Jitter This is a really special mode. It works on sine and triangle waves, but works best in sine wave mode. This mode works by randomly varying the phase of the wave, and the intensity is controlled by the Mod knob. If used tastefully, and possibly in Wet-Left / Wet-Right output mode, this can emulate Automatic Double Tracking. Try it on a lead vocal! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_double_tracking -- -- Beat-Sync I don't know if it is really useful, but you can sync a sine wave LFO to the tempo of the session. Fun Stuff! -- Output Mode Choose between Stereo, Mono, Wet-Right, and Wet-Left -- -- Stereo In true stereo chorus fashion, the left and right channels are delayed independently, and the LFO affects them inversely. -- -- Mono After the left and right channels are delayed, they are added together. -- -- Wet-Left / Wet-Right These modes have one channel dry, and the other is wet. Don't be afraid to push the Dry/Wet to 100%. These modes work really well with the Jitter mode. Making this plugin was a labor of love, and I truly hope you enjoy it. Props to Dr. Eric Tarr of Belmont University, who helped me learn how to make it. |
