Overview

Name | Version: Pendolo 1.3
Author: OSTINSOLO
Device Type: MIDI Effect
Description: Pendulums and Springs to MIDI is an experimental Max for Live instrument that converts physicality, gravity, oscillation, and spring-like dynamics into MIDI data.

A long time ago, I started out working on this as my little experimental project, and then I noticed other developers and artists experimenting in this field too. This was enough evidence for me that this type of instrument could have its place in the world.

This is not an attempt to make a new MIDI machine. This is an experimental instrument for exploration that has interactive controls and reacts to certain physical movements and behaviors. You can use this instrument to generate interesting MIDI patterns, rhythms and even to explore music scales, for example.

I would like not to describe here in detail what this instrument does. This is left up to you to explore and discover all the possible uses of this instrument on your own.

I am ready to continue to develop this project further if people show enough interest in it. My focus currently lies in developing some audio tools, some commissions, as well as interactive devices for films and theatrical performances.

In the meantime, I think we should keep the experimental nature: try it, explore it, and let it behave in unexpected ways.

I am not recording a full demo at this stage. Instead, users are welcome to share their own experiments, stories, Instagram clips, TikToks, or short videos using the device.
If you connect with the idea and want to show what you create with it, that is already part of the project.
This is a research-based musical tool, not a polished commercial formula.

Use it as a system for play, physics, rhythm, and discovery.
