Further consideration is that I can only justify additional processing on the main output, and I don’t want to put dedicated m4l devices on each channel or submix.
If I can solve this with outboard gear, I will. I’ve the elektron analog heat, for example. And I have an RNC1773 with a high pass insert. But mastering rack mounts can be pretty darn steep. and I won’t always want to travel with this additional gear.
I’ve a license for monomono consolex8056 where I utilize the pre73 and the console80
The console summing is VERY subtle and maybe too luxurious in performance impact to justify such finishing touches.
And then I borrow the EQ and compressor sections—in that serial order—from the OptoComp and the Curves Eq, which is an emulation of a pultec.
With 2x oversampling, these are premium devices, and they are easy to reach for, but I don’t know if they are performance minding on the matter of processing.
They perform better than a big stack of native devices, surprisingly, but wanted to know what you would use to compete with them. Do you think your air windows port would perform better and still have all the finishing “trimmings”?
