Overview

Name | Version: Catena Sequencer 2.0
Author: secretadmiral
Device Type: MIDI Effect
Description: Inspired by the Roland M-185 Sequencer, this Max for Live midi device allows you to create intricate sequences quickly and easily. Use it to trigger VST’s inside Ableton as well as external instruments like desktop and eurorack synths.

Stages, not Steps
Unlike the more standard 8-step sequencer, this device uses 8 stages. Each stage can be anywhere from 1 to 8 steps in length. You can turn on or off each step within a stage allowing for complex sequences and rhythms. The combination of stages and steps is a unique way to create rhythmically complex sequences up to 64 steps long.

Quickly Edit a Complex Sequence
There are plenty of sequencers that allow for up to 64 steps, sometimes more. What sets this sequencer apart is the ease in which you can edit the sequence. Rather than scrolling through menus, the Pitch, Count and Mode controls allow you to edit your sequence on the fly. Much like the original modular synth design of the M-185, you can adjust parameters to create endlessly evolving sequences.

Worked when I first loaded it but now after saving and reopeniong it runs on that track but no new instances.
i,m running latest suite but on windows 7
This device would be amazing, except it does not save PITCH data in the sequences properly in Live 10.1.30 in Max 8.1.7.

It saves some of the notes in the correct Pitch, but others (step 6, 7, and 8 specifically) reset to some strange fixed value (not 0) when I load/reload my saved Project.

If this could be fixed, it would be absolutely amazing. This is the best implementation of the M185 sequencer I've found in Max/Live yet. Please patch it if you can! Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback. Apologies for the slow reply! I'll look into this; I've this to a list of updates I'm working on. I'll share a new version as soon as I'm able! Thank you, again!
Thank you very much for the reply and ongoing effort, secretadmiral. I truly appreciate it and would love to help beta test the new version when it's ready, if you like. You can reach me directly at deftinwulf AT g mail DOT com if you're interested.

Cheers. :)
Hi Secretadmiral, did you ever update this device to fix the bugs? Please share it with us here if so. I'd really love to use Catena exclusively as my sequencer going forward. Thanks!
