Name | Version: MIDI Gate Trigger 1.0
Author: Simon
Device Type: MIDI Effect
Description: MIDI Gate Trigger is an evolution of my MIDI Gate. This one permit to choose between sending a note or fire a clip (play it or start recording if the selected clip is empty).

As the first one, it allow you to trigger drum and clip with any king of control (M4L LFO, Connection kit, MIDI controller) by mapping the slider and choosing a gate value (threshold).

It can be fun to triggering drums with the Arduino M4L device (Connection kit) and some photoresistors.

Have fun and leave a comment if you constat some bug.

Hi Simon!
I'm trying to use this device to do this:

On one Drum rack I have different notes for drums playing. On a basic MIDI track I have a bass synth playing notes. I want to use the gate to make chosen drum note values force the bass MIDI track NOT to play notes whenever the specific drum note is playing. It should work kind of like a "MIDI sidechain compressor" on the bass track with the drums as the sidechain input, only with more control.
Do you know if I can achieve this? I tried using the "inverse" button, but I haven't figured it out.

Thanks.
Hi Tamiko !

I'm sorry, this device was created for triggering MIDI notes an clip with MIDI messages from 0 to 127 by using mapping functions (as an exemple, mapping a fader or modwheel on the left UI fader). The gate define the value that trigger the desired desired message, depending which mode you choose on the corresponding channel. The inverse mode is just a way to flip gate behavior (triggering when the MIDI value pass under or over the gate value, depending on what device you use to map).
I designed this device in first place to trigger drum sample with an Arduino (using Arduino M4L device) and a photoresistor.
In your case, you need something that monitor MIDI messages received in a first track, and then mute or bypass MIDI messages that coming in a device (instrument) on a second track.
I don't think you can achieve this goal with this device, or a least without other stuff. I hope you will find something more useful for this, sorry that my device didn't helped you.
Have a great day !
Simon
Thank you so much for the answer, Simon.
I will keep on searching/patching.

All the best,

Tamiko, MFA X-Relay does that but it will skip the first note as the two events happen at basically the same time.
