Overview

Name | Version: sound system setup 1.0
Author: rbrt23
Device Type: Audio Effect
Description: ..this is made for live-sound-engineers,
it's an RTA and a DELAY-FINDER.

DELAY-FINDER:
the delay-finder can find the inherent delay of any system,
including your soundcard by sending an impulse and measuring the time until the response arrives.
it's not too accurate, about 2 ms jitter or so.
to get more accuracy, use the built-in phase scope.
workflow:
-check the system by clicking the big button on the left.
-hit the small 'take from response' - button to set the system latency.
-enable 'align' left of the oscilloscope.
-lower the numbers at 'system latency correction' SLOWLY until the oscilloscope shows an ascending, straight line.

RTA:
sports two curves with customizable colors and variable averaging.
besides, the is a 'capture' function that captures the second (slower) curve.
if you press 'inv' , the captured curve will be inverted, which is great for
tuning the EQ of your system without having to send pink noise all over the place for ages.

Thanks can't wait to test this upcoming weekend.
which mic should I use?
for best results, a measurement mic.
(measurement mic == the more linear the frequency response, the better)
actually, even cheap ones are pretty good, like the 'behringer ecm 8000.

..I did this device for my own purposes and didn't care too much about a smooth workflow, so I'd advise you to do some tests at home..

cheers

Cool!
I believe a friend has a mic like that.
looking forward to find out more about my pa's delay times
Going to set up some speakers in the shed first :-)
Have a nice one!
