Device Overview

Name/Version: Floating Clock Multiplier 1.3.1
Author: stev
Description: This device gives you control over 8 different clock multipliers. These take incoming midi note-ons, time the duration between them and then output 8 clocks (as 8 midi notes) with different speeds that are proportional to that duration. These proportions can be whole or non decimal numbers which can cause some interesting poly-rhythms that are normally hard to sequence. You could also, send in steady or unsteady midi notes to make steady or unsteady poly-rhythms. You can quantize these rhythms to Ableton's timeline to get interesting euclidean-like rhythms with the turn of a knob.

-Transpose the pitches of the clocks with incoming midi notes.

-Freeze the speed of the clock to keep the same poly-rhythm and re-trigger it whenever you want.

-Pop up keyboard interface to more musically sequence the pitches of the clocks.

-Use the one-note feature to control different clocks on the same midi track with different notes.

-This device is made to work with the Sequencing Clock Multiplier.

-Built-in help file and info text for more explanation.

This device can be set to receive incoming midi from a midi bus. The buses it is compatible with are the “Max Midi Sender” device (found in the Max 7 Pitch and Time Machines Pack from Ableton's site) or my free “Heap Midi Sender” device, which is basically the same but has more channels, can send individual midi notes, and is less user friendly.
